It's Crazy Where Some People Put Swarovski Crystals

Pharrell's shoes, Kanye's wedding favors, and... your toilet scrubber?

You wouldn't believe where some people want to put Swarovski crystals. KristalLang, a Swiss maker of "bathroom furniture," wants to put them in your bathroom. Credit:

If you're like most billionaire luxury yacht owners, you're probably haunted by the fear that you don't have enough Swarovski crystals in and around your toilet.

That's what Switzerland's KristalLang seems to believe, anyway. The company describes itself as one of the "world's leading Swiss firms" in the field of "luxury bath furniture," and it's pitching a comprehensive line of bathroom fixtures encrusted with the iconic bling.

Yep, bathroom fixtures. As you might imagine, a category that broad includes everything from door handles and drawer knobs to soap dishes and towel racks. You can even get a bedazzled toilet paper holder and toilet brush set, if they strike your fancy.

Company reps told us the new "Hollywood" style was inspired by a custom order placed by a famous Tinseltown director, but stopped short of naming names.

KristalLang's latest addition is the "Hollywood" line, which features two full rows of Swarovski crystals inset in a chromium-plated surface. Company reps told us the new style was inspired by a custom order placed by a famous Tinseltown director, but stopped short of naming names.

Those kind of bespoke pieces actually make up the bulk of KristalLang’s business. The company markets heavily to yacht owners, high-end hotels, and the luxury construction industry. It's also produced unique pieces for luxury name brands including Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.

We spent some hands-on time with the sparkly wares here at the Salone del Mobile in Milan, and came away feeling less than impressed. The hardware is obviously high quality, but the design aesthetic definitely isn’t for all tastes.

If, however, you absolutely have to cover everything you own with Swarovski, then this will certainly let you cross your bathroom off the list.
