Thermador, the brand that introduced pro-style cooking to American consumers, is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2016 with—quite literally—a big debut.

The new 60-inch Pro Grand is the largest consumer range Thermador has ever built, and is among only a handful of other products in its size class.

You read that right: this new range is 60 inches wide. That’s five feet—as wide as a car’s grill, twice as wide as a standard freestanding range, and wider than some home chefs are tall. It’s not only a serious appliance—it’s also a serious statement piece for a high-end kitchen.

The 60-inch Pro Grand comes in two flavors, with a variety of toppings. The Ultimate Entertainer’s Center puts two convection ovens—one 30-inch, one 36-inch—next to one another, while the Ultimate Culinary Center mates a convection oven with a steam and convection oven, in addition to a warming drawer.

The Thermador Ultimate Entertainer's Center puts a 30-inch and 36-inch oven side-by-side. Up top, you'll see a 12-inch grill and a 12-inch griddle.

Up top, every 60-inch Pro Grand gets six of Thermador’s trademark star-shaped burners. Owners can choose to add either a 12-inch grill and 12-inch griddle, or a scratch-resistant 24-inch dual-zone griddle.

In addition to the range, Thermador is also introducing a matching, 60-inch range hood insert wide enough to handle the 60-inch Pro Grand.

While Viking, Wolf, Capital, FiveStar, American Range, Ilve, and BlueStar all sell 60-inch models, Thermador says its ranges are the only ones to offer steam cooking. Unique venting also means users can install it flush against a wall, which is also unique in the 60-inch category. No pricing data is available yet, but most other 60-inch ranges sell for north of $10,000. We’d expect the Pro Grand to cost as much as a small car.

A big anniversary calls for champagne, so it’s no surprise that Thermador would also take the wraps off a series of undercounter refrigerators at Design and Construction Week.

The Wine Reserve Refrigerator is a dual-zone, undercounter wine fridge that’s designed to fit flush with cabinetry. The Double Drawer Refrigerator is a customizable fridge with three modes: Pantry Mode for storing bread or flour, Bar Mode for chilling beverages, and Refrigeration Mode for standard chilling.

Thermador was founded in 1916 as a manufacturer of electric heating appliances. The company first introduced a built-in wall oven in 1947, and gained fame in the televised kitchen of chef Julia Child. Today, Thermador is part of BSH—a European home appliance group which also owns Bosch and Gaggenau.
